The U.S. bishops have called for a Fortnight For Freedom which consists of a two-week period for prayer and action, to address many current challenges to religious liberty.
These challenges include the August 1, 2013 deadline for religious organizations to comply with the HHS mandate, Supreme Court rulings that could attempt to redefine marriage in June, and religious liberty concerns in areas such as immigration and humanitarian services.
The following are some opportunities for you to support this effort.
Pray for Religious Freedom at the following Masses:
Saturday, June 22 - Feast of SS Thomas More & John Fisher
Sunday, June 23 - Feast of the Nativity, John the Baptist
Friday, June 29 - Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul
Monday/Tuesday, July 2/3 - Maximilian: Saint of Auschwitz
Wednesday, July 4 - Independence Day
Almighty God, Father of all nations, for freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus.
We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice and the common good.
Grant our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties.
By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land.
We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness, and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
